Max Hall will embark on the next step of his fledgling motorsport career this season by graduating to the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE Trophy with Westbourne Motorsport.

In what will be just his second year of car racing, the 16-year-old is poised to compete in what is widely regarded as one of the most competitive single-make championships in the UK.

Renowned for its high-octane wheel-to-wheel action, the 2023 edition of the MINI CHALLENGE Trophy is set to receive unprecedented coverage as it takes centre stage on the support bills of both the British Touring Car Championship and British Truck Racing Championship.

Having enjoyed unprecedented success in karting across a number of years, Hall made the jump into car racing at the start of 2022 and made an instant impact as he became just the second-ever driver to clinch the overall Junior Saloon Car Championship title in his rookie campaign.

At the wheel of a Westbourne Motorsport-run Citroen Saxo, the Motorsport UK Academy driver charged to ten victories to claim the prestigious crown and with it, wrote his name into the series’ history books.

That success also led him to scoop the coveted Peter Collins Trophy - which is awarded to the most promising newcomer - at the annual British Automobile Racing Club Awards Evening in February.

Now with the backing of Halls Electrical, Durite, Brigade, Fischer Panda, PVL and Brandfixx - as well as the continuity of working with the same team - the teenager has his sights set on achieving further glory this year.

Max Hall: “It feels great to finally be able to announce that I’ll be stepping up to the Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE Trophy with Westbourne Motorsport for this season.

“Last year was simply incredible; to step up to the Junior Saloon Car Championship and win the title at the first attempt was beyond my wildest dreams. Westbourne were amazing and it feels right to embark on this next step with them - it means we can maintain the momentum we have!

“I’m under no illusions that this will be a big jump up but I’m more than confident we can have a good season. I’m going to take it one round at a time, soak up as much as I can behind the wheel and see what we results we can go after.

“I’ve got to say a big thank you to the whole team, my family and loyal sponsors - without them this wouldn’t be possible. I can’t wait to get to Brands Hatch now!”

The 2023 Vertu Motors MINI CHALLENGE Trophy commences at Brands Hatch on April 8/9.
